Gettysburg Farm Campground – Thousand Trails

In the fall of 2024, we spent a week at this campground, closing out their season and leaving as they closed for winter.

This is a Thousand Trails campground located in Dover, PA. It is in a rural part of the state with beautiful rolling hills and farmland. Be sure to check your GPS navigation system carefully as ours tried to take us down a dirt road the long way around when we missed the turn since it wasn’t clearly posted.

It was conveniently located for day trips to many areas, and we ventured to both Hershey, PA and Gettysburg National Military Park while staying here.

This campground is spacious and offers full hook up sites in a variety of areas, including along the river a the back of the property. It has many amenities including a pool, playground, outside activities, and trails. There is a laundry facility, as well as a small camp store. What we loved most was the farm animals that enjoyed meeting and greeting people. You are able to feed them, but be sure to use the feed available and not your own, per posted signs.

The campground staff were friendly and helpful, and we met several neighbors while visiting, including a fellow runner also making use of the trails that BJ was using.

We hope to visit Pennsylvania again this season, and this RV park may very well be on our list again since it ranked pretty high. The peaceful surroundings and spacious sites made for a relaxing visit, but were still close enough to town for shops, cafe’s and grocery shopping.
