Scotrun Thousand Trails in the Poconos

We spent four nights at Scotrun Thousand Trails as we worked our way south from New England. This Campground is in the Pocono Mountains and a short drive to stores, restaurants and lots of things to do.
When you arrive, be prepared for lots of hills, to include at the office–you will have to park on a steep incline! The reward for the hills is the beautiful woodsy setting.

We had a full hookup spot in the back area and were treated to being surrounded by the woods and seeing tons of chipmunks scavenging, deer grazing their way past, and birds of all varieties. We had heard there were bear in the area, but didn’t get to see any this trip.
The park is pretty hilly, as we discovered on our runs, but the roads and sites are spacious enough to navigate even our large rig through.

The office has a basic camp store for a snack or souvenir, and you’ll find the activities near it, as well. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful and enjoyable to chat with!
The game room and activity center has video games, board games and movies, pool and ping pong. Outside you’ll find basketball, mini golf, a catch and release lake and a pool. You’ll also find the dumpsters located down the hill from the office.
Sadly, the waterslides were closed and in need of repair, but it was cold when we were there. There was a Great Wolf Lodge a few minutes down the street, so if your heart is set on waterslides, they have an indoor day pass option.

Our spot didn’t have the best location for our Starlink, but our Verizon cell phones worked well, and we needed the full hook ups to catch up on laundry. If you need a laundry room, they have one in the center of the park!
There is a dump station and bathhouse centrally located, if you don’t have full hook ups, and they were in pretty good condition.
Luna was in need of a haircut when we were there and we found Tara’s Spoiled Rotten Pet Salon about 10 minutes away. They did a great job and were quick, just a lot higher priced than we have seen in all our travels, as were many of the things there. That’s just part of traveling, though!

If you are looking for some excursions to learn about the local area, there are tons to choose from! We chose to explore a coal mine, about an hour away, since much of my family lived in Pennsylvania before migrating to Florida and have ties to the coal mines. Check out the blog about our experience here or find it on the travel map or visit the No. 9 Coal Mine and Museum in Lansford website here (posting date 6/15/25).
This was a short stay, but we were really looking for a stop to catch up on life maintenance. We will keep this one on our list to return to if we are in the area again! Have you stayed here?
