You miss 100% of the goals you don’t go for. But in this fast paced world, it is easy to lose sight of where we are going or what we are doing, even if we have a good plan. We need to have a goal to keep focus for the day and week, as well as the month, season, year or lifetime. And, more importantly, we need to write it down and share it, for accountability and focus.
But that can be a lot of things, and overwhelming to keep up with.
That is why I like to create a dream board or a goal sheet.
First, I brainstorm all I want in the areas of faith, family, personal, and career.
Then I organize those ideas and set a goal of what I want and when I want to accomplish it.
From there, I create a dreamboard.
Sometimes I just keep it on my computer, sometimes I hang it where I’ll see it.
Other times, I write inspiration on post it notes to hang in the bathroom and see while I brush my teeth.
This is a great activity for all ages, and something I have even done for students in the first week to help them find focus for the year, then we plan check ins each quarter to see how we are doing and what we need to tweak.
What are your goals and visions for this year?
Me? I am still working on finding balance in this new lifestyle that is ever-transitional, eating healthier to align with my allergies, reading a paper and an audiobook every month, and helping other educators improve their craft and travelers get the places they want to go sooner rather than later. I’m continuing from before a continued growth in my faith, spending meaningful time with my family, and getting outdoors every day for some type of physical activity.
