The outing at Catawba Falls Trail near Black Mountain, NC, offered two hiking options: the moderate Ridge Trail and the shorter River Trail. The Ridge Trail featured scenic views and ample resting spots. The upper falls were enjoyed, despite cold waters, while Hurricane Helene’s damage impacted accessibility. Overall, a rewarding adventure.

Cheaha State Park is a gem of a place to camp, hike, and explore in Alabama. Being the highest point in the state, it is a perfect place to unplug and recharge with beautiful views and lots of history.
If you are passing through Central Tennessee, this park is a great stop, and with it’s beautiful campground, a great place to be surrounded by nature and history, but still close to modern conveniences.
If you are visiting the Evergreen State on your travels, you may want to put Leavenworth, WA on your list! This mountain town is Bavarian themed, and has a Thousand Trails campground nestled in the Cascade Mountains, feeling like you are in the Black Forest of Bavaria, Germany!
There are a lot of choices for camping when you visit Glacier National Park in Montana, but we really enjoyed our stay at Johnson’s of St. Mary in East Glacier, just outside of the park entrance.
