Cheaha State Park is a gem of a place to camp, hike, and explore in Alabama. Being the highest point in the state, it is a perfect place to unplug and recharge with beautiful views and lots of history.
This country store is a great stop when traveling I-75 to stock up on groceries, boondock as a Harvest Hosts or get full hook ups at their campground, and you can grab a geocache while here, too!
If you are passing through Central Tennessee, this park is a great stop, and with it’s beautiful campground, a great place to be surrounded by nature and history, but still close to modern conveniences.
While working our way west, we made sure to visit St. Louis, and the Gateway Arch, and we stayed at our first ACE (Army Corp of Engineers) campground and easy drive for a day trip to the city.
When visiting Missouri, most people head for the Gateway Arch, but on the west side of the state is a small town who’s claim to fame is being home to the Pony Express, and it’s worth a visit!
If South Dakota is in your travel plans, be sure to include a stop at The Corn Palace in Mitchell. It’s a free stop, and we even found a FREE spot to overnight in town!
There is so much to see and do in the Black Hills area of South Dakota, so choosing a central location to start from, or to base out of for day trips is suggested. We found a great spot at Sturgis Downtown RV Park that worked for us while we explored!
With a month in Washington state, we spent more than a week in the Olympic Peninsula and still didn’t get to see and do all we wanted, but we found a great campground that worked as home base!
