Pinehirst Campground Review – Thousand Trails

This campground, located in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, is easy to access and in a great location for exploring the southeastern coast of Maine.
Navigating with our 39 foot 5th wheel was easy and our site, like most, had full hookups. The site was large enough for our rig and a pull through between the main road and an alley, but we had to park our truck in the overflow parking at the club house across from us. There are several amenities including bathhouse, laundry, playgrounds and activities, as well as a pool, although it was already closed for the season by the time we arrived in fall.
This campgrounds is located near several places to explore, including the beach, and is walkable or bikeable to several restaurants and shops.
While we were here, we visited the L.L. Bean anchor store for some shopping, Boothbay Harbor for some lobster and exploring, Cape Elizabeth for a beautiful lighthouse and coastal hike, and had a fun-filled family day at a nearby zipline and obstacle course called Monkey C Monkey Do, which we highly recommend!

Since much of the campground activities were already closing for the season, there wasn’t much to do, but we were here to visit a friend. We met some great people we hung out with at our campsite and the kids had fun playing since it was quiet.
While this wouldn’t be a top of our list park for hanging out at the campground without making sure the pool was open, we did enjoy the location and would love to have stayed longer to explore the beach.
