We spent a week in Gig Harbor, catching up with friends and exploring the area.
Here are some of our favorite places to eat and visit, and where we stayed.

As seasoned travelers, we’ve learned a lot over the years. But our day trip into Vancouver reminded us that we still have room to improve.
Here’s a glimpse at our plans, how it worked out, and what scared us–reminding us to do more research!
With only one day, we opted to do a Shaka Guide driving tour of Crater Lake National Park.
In this blog we share about the drive, what’s dog friendly and what’s not, what we tried (and failed) to find, as well as our experience with the Shaka Guide app tour!
Continuing our journey westward, this week we traveled from Omaha, Nebraska to Arco, Idaho, mostly along I-80 (the route of the Oregon Trail).
On long travel days and 1,200 miles of travel, we found free camping on cool nights, historical local stops, and took a turn north to stop for some R&R.
On this trip, we didn’t have our rig, but we did have the pup, so finding a place to stay with her that was affordable was a must…
With a month in Washington state, we spent more than a week in the Olympic Peninsula and still didn’t get to see and do all we wanted, but we found a great campground that worked as home base!
Polk County is where we have both grown up. We used to hike at “Circle B” when it was a roadside parking stop with a log and walkthrough gate. So to have watched it grow into the beautiful reserve and nature center it is today is bittersweet for us.
