We almost didn’t make this stop! It’s a small, one building stop in the center of the small town of Arco, and it opens when you call the volunteer. Luckily, we called and Harvey made it an experience we were glad to have memories of!
We got up close and personal with science and history as we toured this museum.
With free admission, guided tours and hands on displays, you won’t be disappointed–but if you can’t make it, they have virtual tours, too!
Come along as we tour the nuclear power plant that made history powering a small town in Idaho.
Adding Craters of the Moon to our itinerary meant a couple of extra travel days on our cross country journey.
But what we gained from this experience can’t be measured in miles, only in memories.
Arco, Idaho may not be as well known as some places to visit, but if you like science and nature, you’ll want to consider it!

Continuing our journey westward, this week we traveled from Omaha, Nebraska to Arco, Idaho, mostly along I-80 (the route of the Oregon Trail).
On long travel days and 1,200 miles of travel, we found free camping on cool nights, historical local stops, and took a turn north to stop for some R&R.
