Omaha Zoo Passes – But We Live In Florida!

While chatting with a friend of ours about our travel path for the summer, he told us how great the Omaha Zoo was and that we should plan to visit, if we could. So when travel planning, we made sure to get a couple of days there to visit.

We had previously been pass holders at ZooTampa near our home base for years, but had let our passes expire since we hadn’t been over there in ages. So when researching their zoo, we saw a lot of great exhibits that we knew would take us more than one day to explore (especially with the summer heat wave) plus a great deal on their annual pass that we could use at other zoos along our travel route in the next year, we decided to jump at it since the cost for the family pass was only a little bit more than day passes for the three of us.

We split our visit over 2 partial days to give us time to explore and see everything. Even though it was very hot, it wasn’t that bad. Many of their exhibits are indoors, so much of the park is walking from building to building.

They have put in amazing attention to detail in the animal exhibits to make them truly feel like you are in that part of the world. BJ enjoyed the desert dome the most and I loved the Lied Jungle. The gorilla exhibit is in the center of the park, so we passed through their often, and were amused by the one who enjoys sleeping over the “bubble”, allowing you to stand under and interact or take a photo!

Africa is always one of my favorites, so we spent much of our second day exploring there, especially since the animals were out and active.

Their aquarium in the middle of the park also offers lots of great exhibits and air conditioned spaces. There are benches and misters in many of the outdoor areas of the park, as well as water fountains and bottle fill machines. They have a theater on site to learn more, and even offer concessions!

Even with my food allergies, we were able to find things on property, but luckily they allow coolers and personal food, if you prefer to bring your own.

One of my favorite things was how easy it was to add their pass to our Apple Wallet and that it has geo-location, so when you get there, it pops up in notifications, making it quick and easy to produce to check in or for discounts.

While I am unsure if our travels will take us past Henry Doorly Omaha Zoo in the next year, we are excited to have passes to visit again, if we do, or visit other zoos around the country.

If you plan to visit, they do have large vehicle and RV parking, so definitely check that out!
