Tappan Lake and Campground

While traveling through Ohio, some friends that live in Wadsworth had a planned trip to Tappan Lake and invited us to join, and we are so glad they did!

This campground is part of Muskingum Watershed and is a gem of a campground. It has good-sized sites with full hookups as well as a marina for water play or fishing. There are bathhouses, playgrounds, cafe and grill, if you don’t feel like cooking, and hiking trails in the area and the lake is surrounded by beautiful woodlands. When we were there, there was a festival on Saturday, so we got to enjoy small business vendors with lots of treats and handmade crafts, which was nice.

There are some hilly roads as you come into the campground, so be sure your tow vehicle is able to handle them.

Booking a reservation can be done online and you can choose your site, and, while this is a higher priced campground, it does also include access to the lake for day use. Check in was easy at the gate, we gave them our name and got our information and map to our site. We stayed in loop 5 (site 509) and it was pretty peaceful there. The rates were $60-$70 a night, depending on weekend vs. weekday, as with many recreation areas and campgrounds we’ve seen.

The staff was pleasant and helpful when we interacted with them. On weekends, it is pretty busy during camping season, but everyone was friendly and fun to interact with.

If you don’t have an RV or watercraft, cabin rentals and boat rentals are available, as well.

We posted a reel on Facebook back in November, shortly after our stay, here’s a link to the Tappan Lake reel, if you want to check it out!

We look forward to visiting our friends and staying at this campground in the future!
